• Ethnic Studies Department / Fullerton College

The Fullerton College Ethnic Studies Department is working tirelessly to educate students both inside and outside of the classroom about the ongoing effects of racial injustice in the United States. Through coursework, campus events, and providing a wealth of resources, the faculty and staff are doing the work to foster and cultivate a more inclusive, progressive future. The faculty and staff of the Ethnic Studies department had large dreams to match their large influence on Fullerton College. In their brand, they wanted to strike a balance between their position as part of an institution, while emphasizing their activism. Tree imagery is a common thread between both facets, so that was decided as the core graphic. The unconventional color palette from cultural textiles further subtly distinguishes the brand identity. Don’t Be Jealous Studio (then, Studio DBJ) was inspired by the bold typography of protest graphics in combination with the funky color palette in the page design of the department’s new website.
